On August 21, 2010, British Architect John Pawson will deliver a lecture as part of the artist-in- residence program of the Cape Cod Modern House Trust.
Pawson’s talk will be a visual journey through the landscape projects, monasteries, international residences, yachts, products and spaces recently designed by him. It will allow an unprecedented, all-access glimpse into the illustrious, often private, spaces Pawson creates. This world-renowned architect will describe how he approaches space, proportion, light, and materials, to create and refine his work.
Pawson’s trademark minimalist approach has resulted in commissions including Calvin Klein stores, affluent residences such as Ian Schrager’s New York City apartment, Angela Ismailos’ private yacht ‘Baracuda,’ the Novy Dvur Monastery in the Czech Republic In June of this year Pawson was named as the architect who will oversee the transformation of the former Commonwealth Institute into a new home for the Design Museum, London. Pawson is the subject of many architectural journals and books. Phaidon Press is publishing a new title, ‘John Pawson Plain Space’ to coincide with the opening of a major exhibition at the Design Museum in September 2010.
The lecture is the first in a week of architectural events including a modern house tour and a film night. For more details on other events, see the previous blog post Summer Events Schedule.
