Hatch Cottage, Restoration and Re-imagination
Preservation Hall, Wellfleet
Students and faculty from Harvard'sGraduate School of Design (GSD) will present a short film they made during the spring 2012 semester. The film combines live footage and 3-D digital modelling of the Hatch Cottage and it's surroundings. The project grows out of the the new Masters of Design program at the GSD, Critical and Strategic Conservation. The idea that "buildings and landscapes as material objects carry cultural memories and ideologies" is one of many explored in this project, using the Hatch Cottage as a case study. K Michael Hays will introduce the film and discuss the impetus to start the new masters program. CCMHT Founding Director, Peter McMahon will also give a short powerpoint talk on progress at the Hatch Cottage. Restoration work is projected to begin July 1.
Many thanks to the our many volunteers, the people of Wellfleet and our local Community Preservation Committee for helping fund the project.
Faculty members presenting the film will be:
Mark Mulligan - a Professor of Architecture and Director of the Master in Architecture Degree Programs at the GSD.
Chris Hoxie - an architect, digital consultant and Lecturer in Architecture at the GSD.
